When a child asks to be Spiderman, Batman, or a different favorite superhero, I can see the transformation take place as he [or she] sits on the stool, make up goes on, and they are 'painted' into character. He sits a little straighter and I whisper in their ear, "Shoulders back, be proud of who you are." And, beaming, this fledgling hero launches into the world, a new quest calling.
